SITE OVERVIEW

Hiking from the site will lead you down into Muir Woods National Monument where your school can explore the beauty of the old growth coast redwoods, walk the boardwalks of the park, and cool off by the streams while enjoying the visits from banana slugs, ladybugs, and local birds.

EDUCATIONAL OVERVIEW

Muir Woods boasts a varied history from the early days of the Coast Miwok to the days of the Scenic Railway to today’s numerous visitors to the Monument.  Exploring the area will allow your students to learn about both redwood ecology and the surrounding watershed.  If you are looking for moderate hiking, this is your site.  However, if you are searching for a great challenge on both a personal and group level, we’d suggest the Mt. Tam summit hike for a great team building activity.
